A young man in lacy tiered summer dress with a wide crowned hat. He has his face partly in shadow, with one foot on the chair, almost on top of the railway lines. Unlocated, but from the wooden hut in the background, he appears to be part of one of the innumerable concert party groups entertaing the Allied troops behind the lines in World War I. By 1916-1917 at least 80% of British and Dominion divisions and units had concert parties
