Eddie, a man in drag poses for a close-up, wearing a pearl necklace and styled hair. Photographic postcard, ca. 1925.
To ... sincerely yours Eddie
Part of James Gardiner Collection: photographs of military, naval, and prisoner-of-war camp drag.
He gazes outside the frame, with the image being a slightly elevated profile shot. Eddie is wearing a wig showing the latest style in 'shingled' hair, circa 1925. He was almost certainly a member of the Splinters troupe of ex-servicemen, who, having gained experience acting in drag with World War I concert parties, organized themselves into a commercial act and enjoyed great success performing at music hall well into the 1930s
