Two soldiers, one in drag called "Miss Billy Timmins", are seated in front of a painted backdrop. Photographic postcard, 1917.
Miss "Billy" Timmins-Lieut. Cole. "Royal Blues" party. France.
Both gaze out, turning their heads to the side. The man wears evening attire whereas Miss Timmins appears more casually dressed. A concert party behind the lines in France, March 1917. 'The Royal Blues' may refer to The King's Own Regiment, but this needs clarification. Performers identified as Billy Timmins and Lieut. Cole.
Part of James Gardiner Collection: photographs of military, naval, and prisoner-of-war camp drag.
