Three musicians, one in drag, in bizarre masks for an "Olympia" masked ball. Photographic postcard by Brincker, 191-.
Bal-Masqué "Olympia" gegrimeerd door J. Dirkmaat. Foto Brincker
Part of James Gardiner Collection: photograph album labelled ‘Drag’.
An unusual example of Gothic drag. The central character in drag holds a tambourine and looks deathly, like a zombie. The man on the left plays a violin, while the man on the right plays a barrel-organ and has a wooden leg. An extraordinarily gothic trio, photographed on a studio set in the Netherlands. The three characters, dressed for a masked ball , all wear sinister 'Phantom of the opera' style masks which cover portions of their faces. The masks are by J. Dirkmaat
