Wearing a checked dress, he stands looking at the viewer, holding some knitting. The pantomime dame was, by definition, initially a homely type; seen here wearing clumsy boots, a very old fashioned wig in the style of the young Queen Victoria, and doing a bit of knittingPrint catalogued is signed by the actor thus indicating his identity. Gus Garrick appeared at the Cambridge Theatre of Varieties in 1898, in Leeds in 1900, and in Sunderland in November 1914. He is one of the people portrayed in Walter Lambert's painting 'Popularity' at the Museum of London (190-)
